WHITE PAPER:
How to Defeat Spam
How to Limit Spam Bots
How can you limit Spam-bots?
Replace characters in an e-mail address with human-readable equivalents, e.g. "myname@domain.com" can written "myname at domain dot com."
-
Some people think this does not look “professional” on their web sites and want another alternative. It can be done by replacing characters in an e-mail address with HTML equivalents. In this case, we suggest that the web page provide a link that says something like “email us”. The HTML code would
provide the link to your email, but the code would look something like this:
"example@d
The obvious drawback to these solutions is that you need to know HTML or hire someone to do the work for you. -
Don ’t use an email address at all, but use a web form instead. You have probably encountered these forms on line. They often provide fields where you enter you name, email address, comments and perhaps some other fields for information. After filling this information in, you hit the “submit” button and the form information is sent to the recipient. This is probably the most effective of all methods but, again, either you or someone else needs to design and program the form.
For a nominal fee, we can make any of these changes for you. Please email me for specifics. If you do belong to a newsgroup, see if you can opt out of member directories that place your e-mail address online. Many newsgroups now offer this option.
